PUTRAJAYA: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Putrajaya costing nearly RM55 million will be built in Presint 11 here next year to meet growing student demand.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the project, which would be implemented in the Third Rolling Plan of the Tenth Malaysia Plan, could accommodate between 200 and 300 students.
“This will enable the students to have a better learning environment for they are now using another school to study,” he told reporters after attending a briefing by Putrajaya Umno yesterday.
Since its inception on Jan 4 last year, SMKA Putrajaya had to conduct classes for 217 Form One and Form Two students at SMK Putrajaya Presint 11.
SMKA Putrajaya, which will be built on a 5.6ha site owned by the Education Ministry, will have 25 classrooms and a hostel for 750 students.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said the ministry would soon upgrade the Putrajaya Education Office to the Putrajaya Education Department, which would be headed by a director. — Bernama
